We spent the evening drinking $4 Beers with Free Pizza at Alligator Lounge in Brooklyn. We hung out on the subway and interacted with hipsters.

In the morning, we headed in to Manhattan and had a delicious breakfast sandwich on an “Everything Bagel” at Bagel and Shmear (E. 28th St.). Our next destination was the Museum of Sex (233 5th Ave) which was unfortunately, much less debaucherous than we had hoped. The gift store is honestly the most riske part of the establishment, most of the other exhibits were kind of clinical and dry. Although there was one display entitled “Mallard Duck Homosexual Necrophelia” which was funny, outlandish, and included a video (Also an excellent band name).

After the Museum of Sex we continued down 5th Ave towards the park. I snapped some photos of New York City tourist staples and we visited a few gift shops to take photos of things that we would never buy.

When we arrived at Central Park South, we strolled around and people watched for a while. Then my technolust got the better of me. I busted out c:geo on my android and we found this sneaky geocache after a solid 20 minutes of searching.

On our way back to our host’s place in Ridgewood, we stopped at Five Guys (36 W. 48th) and grabbed a totally rocking Jalapeño, Mushroom, Lettuce, Barbecue Burger – complete with french fries made from locally sourced potatoes.

After dinner we ran in to the first problem of the trip. In an effort to catch a train, we ran down the stairs and jumped on board before we realized it was the wrong line. Four stops later we realized our error and had to make the return trip to get back to the M line. This detour put us about 45 minutes off of our schedule.

Luckily, we leveraged the technology at our disposal and were able to check-in to our flight via the mobile web and find a car service to pick us up as soon as we got back home. Our flight was scheduled to depart at 7:50pm bound for Denver, our car service arrived at 7:00pm – the traffic gods smiled upon us and we made it from Queens to JFK in about 22 minutes flat. However, when we arrived to print out tickets at the Kiosk our reservation had been cancelled since we were inside of 90 minutes of our flight when we confirmed them (oops). We ran across the terminal and cut the line, then I quickly sweet talked an agent in to calling the gate and giving us our boarding passes. We hustled our way through security and sprinted across T5 just in time to board the plane.

We were rewarded for our efforts with a 45 minute wait on the tarmac due to high winds. We arrived in Denver about and hour late. Our host (and Architectural Photographer) Richard Douglas picked us up at the airport and brought us to his house in Golden, CO to crash for the evening.

Next Stop: Denver!

Doug Stanhope played Nietzsche’s in Buffalo, NY on May 22nd, 2010 and agreed to let me shoot a few portraits of him after the show.

These images were taken in a small stairwell with only about five-minutes from Doug walking off stage until I was breaking down my gear. Doug is very dedicated to his fans and had been on stage for almost two hours. I know how tiring it can be to be on tour, so I wanted to finish the shoot as efficiently as possible. That’s why it’s always important to practice, practice, practice.

I had my lighting designed and my exposure correct in about three test shots. We took about five frames after that and then I thanked him for his time and we parted ways. I really appreciate Doug taking the time to let me photograph him, please check out his act and buy his merch!

Marathon Jet Travel, Two friends fly for 31 Days straight with only 12 hours in a city between flights.

BUFFALO, NEW YORK, AUGUST 16 2009 — Clark Dever and Joe DiNardo have decided to take full advantage of JetBlue’s “All You Can Jet” promotion, allowing unlimited flights from September 8th through October 8th. They plan on flying continuously, from city to city, keeping their time on the ground as close to 12 hours as possible.

The difference with their trip and that of everyday travelers and road-trippers? The pair plans to document their entire journey using a blog and social media. Dever, also a professional photographer, will be capturing and publishing photos of the trip as it progresses. They also plan to conduct interviews with passengers and citizens, creating a broad glimpse of America as they travel. These interviews and montages of the country will be uploaded to the blog on a daily basis, giving fans the opportunity to follow Joe & Clark’s adventures as they happen. While on the ground Joe & Clark will visit as many local attractions as possible to capture the culture of the individual cities; from local architecture and landmarks, to music, and nightlife.

Social media will play a big role in this journey the two plan on using the popular websites Twitter (twitter.com) and Facebook (facebook.com) to interact with their followers throughout the trip.

“I was talking with Joe about a trip I was planning at the time and he said ‘Did you hear about the JetBlue Promotion?’after he quickly explained it; we decided that we had to rise to the challenge, to see and document as much of the US as possible, in a single month.” said Dever

“Clark and I have always had the kind of friendship where we peer-pressure each other to do outlandish things, we’ve always competed to have the best stories at the end of the night. I see this as just a natural progression from our usual antics. I really don’t know what will happen, but we both agree that whatever it is, it will be entertaining – definitely worth watching.” mused DiNardo

“I think the greatest part about this adventure is that everyone can be a part of it. We have a wiki, where viewers in each city can tell us where to go and eat, what’s the must-see attraction, what events are happening while we’re in town, etc. Never has a trip of this magnitude been planned with the help of so many people, we look forward to interacting with our viewers through the blog and twitter. I think it will spur very interesting conversation.” related Dever

Flight itineraries are being planned now and updates can be found at the official website for the project (12hoursinacity.com). Sponsorship opportunities are available.

Joe and Clark are two regular guys with an appetite for adventure, who quest for the unusual and the unexpected.

Please contact Joe DiNardo (joedinardo@gmail.com, 716-870-5633) with any questions.
